Year 4 Winter Wildlife Workshop: Creating Bird Feeder Rings
Year 4 took part in an engaging Winter Wildlife Workshop as part of their Biodiversity and Outdoor Learning curriculum. The session was expertly led by Reece England, our Climate Education Officer.
Reece introduced the children to the concept of biodiversity, explained simply as all the living things that exist together in one area. He also spoke about local bird species and why providing food is especially important during the colder months and as our climate continues to change.
The children then created their own bird feeder rings using floristry wire, raisins, and apples. Once assembled, they tied the feeders together and placed them around the school grounds. These handmade feeders will help support the wide variety of birds that visit our local area.
It was a fantastic hands‑on experience that strengthened the children’s connection with nature and encouraged them to care for the wildlife in our community.
