Today, Year 3 made their very own minibeast hotels! 🐞🌿
The children carefully cut birch using a handsaw. They took turns and showed great teamwork—when they weren’t sawing, they worked together to hold the birch steady. After cutting the birch, the children carefully stripped the bark using a potato peeler, taking their time and working with great care.
Next, they hollowed out the birch using tent pegs, creating little corridors for bugs to crawl through and explore. To complete their hotels, the children used cable ties to join the pieces of birch together and hung them on trees around our outdoor area.
The children learned how to use tools safely and responsibly, building their confidence and developing important practical skills.
We can’t wait to see which little creatures check into our luxury hotels after the Easter break! 🐜🐛🌳
