Measuring, Making & Muddy Fun! πΏπ
Year 3 had a brilliant time celebrating Earth Day outdoors! ππΏ
We took our numeracy outside and had lots of fun measuring using handspans and feet—but quickly realised these aren’t always the most accurate! π€ We then used a metre stick to explore our Forest School area, hunting for things that were longer and shorter than a metre ππ³
Next, the children worked in teams on a challenge inspired by Jim and the Beanstalk. Using only natural materials, they had to create something for the giant that was over 1 metre long. The results were amazing—a giant book π, spaghetti π and even a coat! There was fantastic teamwork, creativity and problem-solving all round.
Before heading home, we had a peek in the pond and were so excited to spot some tiny tadpoles πΈπ§! We chatted about the life cycle of a frog and can’t wait to check back in on them over the next few weeks.
A fun-filled day of exploring, learning and getting stuck into nature! π±
